Twitter user Denia_Gar_ noticed that Pinterest marked Crimea as part of Russia in the analytics section. The user gave this publicity and called for the application to be downgraded.
"I decided to check the analytics of my audience, and there is such trouble (with Crimea — ed). Crimea is marked as Russia. I already wrote to them about it, put one star in the pm. Crimea is Ukraine," wrote Denia_Gar_ on August 29.
The work spread among Ukrainian users, and they began to lower the application's rating massively. It is now 1.0 on Google Play. However, there are several nuances here. First, Pinterest still has a 4.8 rating in the App Store. Secondly, the rating is calculated based on the ratings of users "in your region". Accordingly, Pinterest is rated 1 point only in Ukraine, and the rating is the same in the rest of the countries.
This is not the first sign of Pinterest's problems with Crimea. In 2021, the topic of adding Crimea as a part of Russian territory was already raised, but the topic did not gain much publicity at that time.
It is essential that Ukrainians have been preventing the world from forgetting that Crimea is Ukraine and that there is a war in Ukraine for 8 years. And now is the time to take a stand on the side of Ukraine.
