JSC Ukrtelecom and the leading European supplier of IST solutions Iskratel will expand the fiber-optic infrastructure in Ukraine. The parties have launched a 3-year program for the development of optical telecommunications networks, which provides for the development of broadband internet access, in particular, as part of initiatives aimed at reducing the digital divide between urban and rural areas.
Ukrtelecom's total investment with the support of financial partners will amount to €12 million.
Within the framework of this program, more than 300 settlements in different regions of Ukraine have access to high-speed Internet. The new network, built on GPON technology, will provide the ability to connect to the optical Internet to 530 thousand households with a population of 1,3 million people.
