JSC “Ukrzaliznytsia” (UZ) has announced plans to launch regular container and trailer trains between Ukraine and the port of Duisburg this summer

This initiative is part of a memorandum signed with Duisburger Hafen Aktiengesellschaft, aiming to enhance rail transportation services between the two regions.

Key Details:

  • Launch Timeline: The first train on the route between the Lisky railway station terminal and the port of Duisburg is expected to depart this summer.
  • New Service Offering: The service will cater to all types of cargo transported by rail or road, providing a new door-to-door option for Ukrainian and European customers.
  • Efficiency and Environmental Impact: This rail service will offer clear predictability for transportation costs and delivery times, bypassing border queues and minimizing environmental pollution compared to road transport.
  • Strategic Location: Despite being an inland port, Duisburg's strategic location allows cargo to reach various destinations across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.

About the Port of Duisburg:

  • Location: Situated near the confluence of the Ruhr and Rhine rivers, approximately 190 kilometers from the North Sea.
