Yevhen Lyashchenko, the Chairman of the Board of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia," revealed during the unveiling that the company developed its first medical car in 2022, claiming it to be unparalleled globally. This innovation expands the fleet to a total of 62 units dedicated to medical evacuation across Ukraine.
These carriages are designed to be fully autonomous, powered by generators, and are outfitted with a comprehensive suite of medical equipment including devices for artificial lung ventilation, blood transfusions, cardio monitors, aspirators, among others. The press release highlighted the presence of resuscitation cars equipped with oxygen stations, noting that in certain cars, surgical interventions can be performed on the move in dire situations.
Ukrzaliznytsia has committed to converting an additional eight cars for medical evacuation purposes by the end of 2024. This project is a collaborative effort with the Ministry of Development of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure of Ukraine, the Ministry of Defense, and the Command of the Medical Forces, illustrating a significant stride in the medical support infrastructure for Ukraine amidst ongoing challenges.
