The German company will help Ukrzaliznytsia to ensure effective management. Consulting is the first stage of cooperation, which will be implemented by the end of 2021. The implementation of assistance will begin with the separation of passenger traffic from freight.
At the second stage, a team of Deutsche Bahn managers will work with the Ukrainian state-owned enterprise Ukrzaliznytsya. This will help build an effective passenger transport management model as early as 2022.
“In the process of reforming, the industry must change the long-standing practice when passenger transportation is funded by freight. These are separate lines of business of our company, which must be accounted for and financed separately. Therefore, we expect our consultant to develop an effective financial model for passenger transportation,” added Kamyshin.
Indeed, the transfer of DB Consulting to the management of passenger transportation by Ukrzaliznytsia is the first systemic step towards a complete transformation of rail transportation in Ukraine. This was announced by the minister of infrastructure Olexander Kubrakov.
Also, the purchase and production of passenger rolling stock and the possibility of producing electric trains and carriages within the framework of international cooperation with the participation of a Ukrainian manufacturer are growing.
“We are happy to share our experiences and strengthen our collaboration,” said Ronald Pofalla, a member of the board of directors of DB Infrastructure.
