It is not common that another novelty has come from the concern in Ukraine. But when it happens, the event attracts a lot of attention. Today we have picked up three unusual automobile solutions that Ukrainians stunned the world with.
Very soon, Luaz-967 will celebrate its 60th anniversary. The Ukrainian car belongs to the Lutsk automobile factory, which operated until 2000. The plant was located in western Ukraine (in the administrative center of the Volyn region, Lutsk). This means that the car manufacturers knew exactly what was necessary to add to car design to pass in the mountains, flooded areas, etc. Therefore, Luaz-967 was the first vehicle in the world designed for evacuating wounded from the battlefield, delivering ammunition, towing light weapons, and mortars. In 1965, only the Steyr-Puch Haflinger from Austria could compete with it.
Coolon is the first electric truck in Ukraine. Its name is a trademark of a car factory from the center of Ukraine, Kryvyi Rih. The implementation of the project on wheels began with the development of the own electric motor. Ukrainian electric motors meet all requirements and standards of energy efficiency and electromagnetic compatibility. To date, four-wheel-drive and front-wheel-drive models are planned. The first prototype has already been produced. The approximate cost of the first Ukrainian electric truck will be about $16.000.
And the final Ukrainian project will be a machine that works on wood. This is a car of the Volga brand that was created in the Soviet Union. Three years ago, the owner of the Volga decided to experiment and install a gas generator in the trunk. It works like a gas-cylinder system. But the gas enters the cylinders by burning firewood. The owner of the Volga, located in western Ukraine, installed a special wood furnace on the back of the car, which generates the necessary fuel. During this development's three years of operation, the owner managed to save about $2.000 while keeping acceleration up to 100 km/h.
