USA Allocates $4.5 Bln to Ukraine

Direct budget support in the coming weeks will be aimed at supporting the social and critical areas of the suffering state

On November 22, US Treasury secretary Janet Yellen announced the decision to allocate another direct budget support to Ukraine through grants. Together with this $4.5 billion package, the total grant assistance from the US is $13 billion.

"Combined with our help and the boundless courage of the Ukrainian people, these funds are a critical tool in Ukraine's counter to Putin's unprovoked invasion," Janet Yellen.

The funds will be used for social assistance to vulnerable sections of the civilian population and payments to government employees (teachers, doctors, engineers, etc.). It is known that the first payments are expected in the coming weeks.

Now in Ukraine, the project Public Expenditures for Administrative Capacity Endurance is being launched by IBRD and the IDA from World Bank. Amounts of $6.3 billion and €1.44 billion will be provided to Ukraine based on loans, credits, and Trust Fund donor grants.
