What Does DSEI UK 2025 Mean for Ukraine?

London forum becomes a launchpad for joint defense projects, investments, and strategic partnerships

DSEI UK 2025: Global Defense Industry at One Venue

From September 9 to 12, 2025, London hosted DSEI UK (Defense & Security Equipment International) — one of the world’s largest defense forums, gathering 50,000 participants, 1,600 companies, and delegations from 110 countries.

Ukraine was at the center of discussions, with its representatives meeting international partners, showcasing battlefield-tested innovations, and securing agreements with major defense contractors.

Serhiy Usov, head of the Kharkiv branch of NGO Stop Corruption, emphasized that DSEI UK is not only a commercial exhibition, but also a platform for technology exchange, partnerships, and investment attraction:

“For Ukraine, this event was of strategic importance — meetings with sponsors and investors give our defense sector the chance to scale production and integrate with the global defense market.”

Strategic Sessions for Ukraine

  • Panel “Arsenal of Democracy” highlighted the transformation of Ukraine’s defense industry, international cooperation, and integration of modern technologies into its armed forces.

  • JSC “Ukrainian Defense Industry” (Ukroboronprom) met with Thales UK, discussing joint projects in air defense, radar, EW, tactical communications, and optics.

  • Ukrainian manufacturers, supported by MPs and defense leaders, presented systems already tested in combat, positioning them as solutions for global defense markets.

Key Defense Partnerships Announced

  • Rheinmetall (Germany) signed a multi-million-euro contract at DSEI to supply Skyranger anti-aircraft systems to Ukraine.

  • Ukrainian company NAUDI announced new joint projects with British partners, already showing effectiveness on the battlefield.

  • The UK’s ADS Group expanded cooperation with Ukrainian firms in aerospace, EW, and digital defense solutions.

Thematic Zones: Technology at the Core

The exhibition was divided into specialized areas — from aerospace and naval shipbuilding to medical innovation, cyber defense, and space technologies. A new Digital & Technical Innovation zone reflected the rising role of AI, cybersecurity, and battlefield digitalization.

👉 For Ukraine, this means opportunities in:

  • UAV co-production and AI-driven defense systems.

  • Cybersecurity & digital warfare solutions.

  • Naval and aerospace cooperation with British shipbuilders and aerospace firms.

Why DSEI Matters for Ukraine

Ukraine’s participation at DSEI UK 2025 showed three major outcomes:

  1. Access to Global Capital & Investors — targeted sessions connected Ukrainian firms with sponsors to fund scaling of production.

  2. Integration with NATO Supply Chains — cooperation with Thales, Rheinmetall, ADS Group, and others cements Ukraine’s role in Europe’s defense ecosystem.

  3. Technology & Knowledge Transfer — Ukraine provides combat-proven solutions; partners provide industrial capacity and financing.

As Usov concluded:

“For Ukraine, DSEI 2025 was unprecedentedly useful. It allowed us to find investors, expand production, and strengthen our role in the defense of Europe.”
