The representative of Washington said that now the responsible US departments are working on the elaboration of the logistics and nuances of the transfer of weapons as part of the presidential package for $40 billion. John Kirby said that in addition to this package, the state's government is working on the USAI (Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative), within which Ukraine can also receive a certain list of weapons for free. As soon as the package's resources are exhausted, weapons will begin to arrive in Ukraine on the terms of a Lend-lease.
"Now we prioritize security assistance in Ukraine, for which they will not need to return funds later," a White House representative.
On May 9, Joe Biden signed the law on Lend-lease for Ukraine, which expands the president's powers and allows him to single-handedly decide on the volume of weapons transfers to the recipient country. In turn, the recipient country undertakes to return the weapon after the war or buy it. Weapons that were destroyed in the course of hostilities are not subject to payment.
