Zelensky — Person of the Year 2002 According to “Financial Times”

"Zelensky has become the embodiment of the courage and resilience of the Ukrainian people in their fight against Russian aggression"

The British magazine Financial Times named Volodymyr Zelenskyy the Person of the Year 2022.

On occasion, he has become the flag bearer of liberal democracy in a broader global struggle against authoritarianism that could define the course of the 21st century.

According to the FT, of all the contenders, the choice fell on the president of Ukraine since Zelenskyy became the "embodiment of the courage and resilience of the Ukrainian people in their struggle against Russian aggression." Our president is opposed to Putin, who, hiding in a bunker, sacrifices hundreds of thousands of lives in the name of his "obsession with rebuilding the empire."

Every day, Zelensky addresses the people of Ukraine simultaneously on all Ukrainian TV channels and roles. His video messages, invariably beginning with the words "great people of great Ukraine", unite, inspire Ukrainians, and keep up to date with all the events and the course of our country. For this, the Financial Times compared Zelenskyy to Churchill, who addressed his people on the radio.

In this issue, the FT mentioned a phrase that Zelenskyy said at the very beginning of the war: "I am more responsible than brave. I just hate letting people down." The words were spoken in response to his decision to stay in Kyiv and not leave his people. We remind you that the United States offered to evacuate the president's family, to which he replied that he "needed weapons, not a trip." FT experts say that this decision of the president "became one of the most important moments in the war, prompting the Ukrainian army and its people to resist. This came as a surprise to Ukrainians and Western allies, who had low expectations from the country's political leadership."

We remind you that Zelenskyy topped the ranking of the 100 most influential people in the world this year.
