Zelensky Reveals Percentage of Weapons from the U.S. and Europe on Ukraine’s Front Lines

President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that 33–34% of the weapons used by Ukraine are domestically produced, about 40% come from the United States, and less than 30% are supplied by Europe

He also expressed his gratitude to U.S. President Joe Biden and stressed the importance of the alliance between the United States and Europe.

Zelensky shared these figures in an interview with Polish media during his visit to Warsaw on January 15. According to him, Ukraine currently meets approximately one-third of its weapons needs with domestic production, while less than a third is provided by Europe, and roughly 40% by the U.S.:

“Today, 33–34% of the weapons in Ukraine are of Ukrainian origin, less than 30% are from Europe, and about 40% are from the United States. That’s roughly how things look. I’m grateful to President Biden for what he has done. But you know how American politics works: the President cannot do everything alone; you’ve seen what happened in Congress [referring to the blocked multibillion-dollar aid package at the start of 2024]."

The President highlighted how the U.S.-European alliance has been extremely helpful to Ukraine. However, he remains concerned about the shortage of air defense systems and the limited supply of Patriot systems from the U.S.:

“I won’t go into how many air defense systems we’re missing or why we can’t get more Patriots from the U.S. I genuinely don’t understand. Maybe I don’t know something, but I do know, unfortunately, that people are dying.”

Meanwhile, the U.S. Secretary of State announced the transfer of the “strongest foreign policy positions” to the incoming administration under Donald Trump. The United States has already provided $102 billion in aid to Ukraine, while allied countries have contributed $158 billion in additional support.
