Zelenskyy Goes to Rome

On May 13, the head of Ukraine will meet with the Pope and the prime minister of Italy

Volodymyr Zelenskyy is going to Rome as part of a mission dedicated to the war's end. It is worth noting that Ukraine will still not cede its territories to the Russian occupiers but is striving for peace and an agreement with the aggressor. The Vatican also takes part in a secret peace mission. Therefore, several informed international sources say that on Saturday, the president of Ukraine will first meet with the Pope, then with the prime minister of Italy, Giorgia Meloni. It is also reported that Volodymyr Zelenskyy plans to visit Germany – also to discuss protection and peace in Ukraine.

It should be noted that neither side has yet given official statements regarding the peacekeeping mission.

In early May, the prime minister of Ukraine, Denys Shmyhal, came to Rome. He held a meeting with Pope Francis. The parties discussed the Vatican's support for Ukraine. Shmygal did not tell the details of the visit but handed the Pope a ceramic rooster, which became a symbol of Borodyanka, where almost nothing survived except the figure of a rooster. Pope Francis also received a photo album on Russian crimes in Ukraine. Perhaps the visit of the Ukrainian Prime Minister marked the beginning of essential cooperation.
