Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with the German president for the first time since the beginning of a full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine. The heads of states discussed the situation in Ukraine and agreed to continue deepening cooperation. Steinmeier also said their military, political, and financial support would continue until Ukraine defeated the aggressor. Also, the parties started negotiations on providing modern aviation to Ukraine.
"Ukraine is ready for peace, but Ukraine, quite understandably and justifiably, wants this not to mean any freeze of war and dictation from Russia. It is an imperialist, aggressive attack on Ukrainian territory, and therefore the peace and security of Europe are threatened," said the German chancellor.
The president of Ukraine thanked Germany for its support. It is known that this is not the last business meeting of Zelenskyy in Berlin. Today is also scheduled for a conversation with chancellor Olaf Scholz.
"I thank Germany for the largest military aid package since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion," wrote the politician.
Yesterday, president Zelenskyy met with the head of Italy to discuss several important issues. Programs and details of meetings in Italy and Germany are not disclosed.
