Zelenskyy’s Diplomatic Visit to Romania

Negotiations between state presidents and parliamentarians: grain transit, “F-16”, Peace formula, economic/logistics/security partnership

On October 10, Volodymyr Zelenskyy arrived in Bucharest for negotiations with the president of Romania, Klaus Iohannis. As the president of Ukraine noted, relations between Ukraine and Romania are strong and reliable enough to move to a new level of partnership.

"We signed a bilateral declaration fixing the key things of our interaction: security cooperation, in particular in the Black sea region, and support for our Peace formula, and the expansion of economic and logistics interaction, transport links, simplification of border crossing procedures, the opening of new checkpoints on the border, "Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

A new pilot training centre for the F-16 is currently being created in Romania. The presidents managed to reach an agreement that as soon as the centre opens, pilots from Ukraine will be the first to go for training. In addition, Klaus Iohannis and the Ministry of defence are ready to provide Ukraine with critically needed air defence shells.

In his Telegram channel, Zelenskyy announced that a food security platform would be created in alliance with Moldova. Ukraine will double its grain exports and deliver it along a new grain corridor through Moldova to Romania for further transportation to developing countries.

As part of the visit, the president and the team also had meetings with the head of the Senate, Nicolae Ciuce, the acting head of the Chamber of deputies, Alfred Simonis, and the prime minister of Romania, Marcel Ciolacu. Zelenskyy thanked each of them "for supporting Ukraine in many important decisions."
