On 24 February 2022, early morning, the Russian offensive against Ukraine began on 3 sides. Some politicians and even Ukrainian people did not know if they could stand. Ukraine had a chance to disappear after 30 years of independence. But over the year, the situation around Ukraine and Russia has changed. And even international politicians a year later treat the armed forces of Ukraine, the government, and the people of the country in a different way.
The president of Lithuania on Twitter reminded the people of the anniversary of the outbreak of war in Ukraine. Gitanas Nauseda noted that during this time the world has changed forever and also confirmed further actions aimed at supporting Ukraine in the fight against the aggressor.
"Today it is from Poland, from the country of solidarity that an appeal goes out to the whole free world: There is no freedom without solidarity! Solidarity with Ukraine!" wrote the president of Poland, Andrzej Duda.
Boris Johnson again did not stay away from the Russian-Ukrainian war. He called support for Ukraine the best investment in the future.
British ambassador to Ukraine, Dame Melinda Simmons, also supported Ukraine. She made a post on Twitter in the Ukrainian language and added a picture of cotton, which in a year of war, got a new meaning. She noted that thanks to the courage of the Ukrainians, the anniversary came not in the sense of fear but with determination. Also, Simmson added that the UK embassies sounded the anthem of Ukraine.
"Ukraine's blue and yellow flag has won all our hearts over the past year. It symbolizes the bravery, courage, and strength of the impressive people of Ukraine who are beating the odds. Tonight, we proudly say: We are Ukraine," wrote the president of the European Parliament.
It should be noted that Roberta Matsola chose a photo with Volodymyr Zelenskyy for her Twitter screensaver.
Finnish prime minister Sanna Marin also thanked the Ukrainians for their strength and opposition to the aggressor. The politician also added that Finland would continue to support Ukraine.
"We can all learn from the Ukrainians, from their history — and from history itself," said historian Timothy Snider and added a video about the history of the Ukrainian confrontation.
Minister of foreign affairs of Lithuania Gabrielius Landsbergis said that according to the UN resolution Ukraine has the right to respect, territorial integrity, and support. He also added that all Russian crimes against Ukraine should be solved, and the guilty – punished.
French president Macron addressed the Ukrainians.
"France stands by your side. To solidarity. To victory. To peace," wrote Emmanuel Macron.
"To all Ukrainians, we stand together with you in remembrance, in solidarity, in unity. Slava Ukraini," the prime minister of the United Kingdom, Rishi Sunak, supported the Ukrainian people.
He was joined by another British representative.
"Russia remains isolated. At the UN, The UK and 140 other countries have voted with Ukraine. We will support them for as long as it takes," wrote foreign secretary of the United Kingdom James Cleverly.
Also, NATO mentioned the power of Ukraine.
"NATO support to Ukraine remains strong one year after the Russian invasion. When Russia launched its brutal, unprovoked invasion of Ukraine, NATO Allies stood firm behind Ukraine. One year later, our support is stronger than ever," wrote on their official Twitter page.
After 30 years Ukraine could be erased from the map of the world and some would not have known about this country. But Ukraine has survived and now the whole world knows about it.
