£25 Mln for Ukrainian Cyber Defence

Rishi Sunak announced a contribution to the field of cyber defence to protect Ukrainians from massive Russian attacks

On June 21, Rishi Sunak's office released a statement of £25 million for the Ukraine Cyber Programme. The structure is as follows: £16 million will be allocated by the UK, and another £9 million will be provided by representatives of the private sector from different countries.

Last year, the UK created and sponsored this program, and thus helped the Ukrainians to repel multiple Russian hacker raids, spyware and more. This year the program is expanding, and it will enhance the security of Ukraine's critical infrastructure.

"Russia's appalling attacks on Ukraine are not limited to their barbaric land invasion, but also involve sickening attempts to attack their cyber infrastructure that provides vital services, from banking to energy supplies, to innocent Ukrainian people," Rishi Sunak.

"This funding is critical to stopping those onslaughts, hardening Ukraine's cyber defences and increasing the country's ability to detect and disable the malware targeted at them."

In addition, the UK transferred £250 million to the International Fund for Ukraine. It is planned to purchase equipment to protect the sky over Ukraine: radars, air defence shells, guns, and so on.
