Ukraine is preparing for a counter-offensive, and Russia is learning to justify its lack of strength. The "second army of the world" relies on bad weather conditions, which this spring dragged on the territory of Ukraine. However, while the aggressor's armed forces cannot do anything to win the war, the Kremlin's leaders hold the captured territories at the cost of heavy losses. In order to consolidate forces in 4 directions in the Donetsk region and to hold part of the Zaporizhzhia, Kharkiv, Luhansk, and Kherson regions, the RF has already lost:
- 185.730 — personnel;
- 3.672 — tanks;
- 7.130 — armoured personnel vehicle;
- 2.832/539 — artillery systems/MRS;
- 289 — anti-aircraft warfare systems;
- 308/293 — aircraft/helicopters;
- 2.398 — UAV operational-tactical level;
- 911— cruise missiles;
- 18 — warship/boats;
- 5.718— vehicles, fuel tanks;
- 337 — special equipment.
During this time, the Armed Forces of Ukraine also suffered losses, but they managed to liberate 8.1% of the territories occupied in 2022. The RF, for 9 years of war, occupied almost 25% of the territory of Ukraine. But the determination of the Ukrainian military hints that other territories will be returned to the territorial map of the state.
General Ben Hodges, the former commander of US troops in Europe, believes that Ukraine will succeed in the operation. But he called for all the necessary weapons for Kyiv.
