506 Days of War
Ukraine on its way to NATO, soldiers of the Russian Federation in the ground
From 11 to July 12 2023, a summit of members of the North Atlantic Alliance was held in the capital of Lithuania. The president of Ukraine was also invited to the leaders' meeting. Within the summit's framework, Volodymyr Zelensky met with 31 countries' leaders and held personal talks with some of them. Ukraine returned from Vilnius with positive results regarding NATO military support.
At this time, the army of the Russian Federation attacked Ukraine with missiles and drones. Two nights in a row, the Iranian drones Shahed attacked the capital of Ukraine. And the Kremlin leaders said the Lithuanian summit brought closer to the start of the 3rd world war.
But if a new war occurred in the civilised world, Russia would quickly raise a white flag because the army of many thousands of people would soon be gone. From February 24, 2022, to July 14, 2023, the Russian army lost in Ukrainian territory:
- 236.590 — personnel;
- 4.097 — tanks;
- 8.008 — armoured personnel vehicle;
- 4.449/680 — artillery systems/MRS;
- 423 — anti-aircraft warfare systems;
- 315/310 — aircraft/helicopters;
- 3.783 — UAV operational-tactical level;
- 1.273 — cruise missiles;
- 18 — warship/boats;
- 7.019— vehicles, fuel tanks;
- 662 — special equipment.
Institute for the Study of War notes that the Russian Federation is losing the war on all criteria. The NATO summit, to which Ukraine was invited, showed that Putin could not prevent Kyiv from getting closer to the alliance. ISW also notes that the Ukrainian armed forces were able to liberate the territory captured by Russian soldiers during the 6 months of full-scale war within 5 weeks of the offensive.
