The 6th set of sanctions became the most controversial and expected among politicians of different countries. The countries, ready to abandon all services of the Russian Federation, popularized the oil embargo and waited for the final verdict. The countries that depend on oil from the murdering countries have slowed down the decision-making process. But on June 2, the 6th package of restrictions for Russia was adopted. It included the embargo on oil exports from Russia by sea nodes, previously approved by all EU members.
The embargo on shipping oil should be activated by the end of the year. In addition, Russia expects:
- The shutdown of the largest universal bank of Russia and Eastern Europe Sberbank from SWIFT;
- Expansion of the sanctions list of individuals and entities.
It was expected that patriarch Kyryll would fall under the sanctions list. The Russian clergyman encourages the actions of his army in Ukraine. He makes speeches among all the parishioners and on television screens. But since April, Hungary has insisted on the removal of the patriarch from this list.
On June 2, sanctions were imposed against more than 1 thousand Russian citizens. However, patriarch Kyryll is not a part of it.
The EU high representative for foreign affairs, Josep Borrel, responded. He pointed out that sanctions list 6 of the package had been extended to people who were "spreading disinformation".
