Agricultural Trade Between Ukraine and France Reaches $750 Million in 2024

Ukraine and France concluded 2024 with robust results in their mutual agricultural trade, reaching a total of $750 million, according to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine

This achievement was announced by Minister Vitaly Koval during an online meeting with his French counterpart, Minister Anne Genevér.

Minister Koval highlighted that Ukraine exported corn, rapeseed, sunflower oil, and honey to France, while importing agricultural machinery, seeds, and plant protection products from the French side. The trade figures reflect the strengthening economic ties between the two nations in the agricultural sector.

The ministers also discussed Ukraine's active phase of negotiations with the European Commission for EU accession. Minister Koval emphasized the importance of France's experience and support in this process, noting that collaborative meetings between Ukrainian and French agricultural specialists could accelerate the adoption of EU standards into Ukrainian legislation.

Additionally, Minister Koval briefed Minister Genevér on the outcomes of the Ukrainian delegation's visit to Syria. He proposed joint efforts to enhance food security in the Middle East through the presidential initiative "Grain from Ukraine". In response, Minister Genevér expressed solidarity with Ukraine and assured continued support.

France plans to send experts to Ukraine's Ministry of Agrarian Policy to assist in implementing European standards related to sanitary and phytosanitary norms and animal welfare. Furthermore, cooperation between Ukraine and France will persist in areas such as soil decontamination and purification, irrigation development, and training of agricultural specialists.

This year’s successful trade figures and ongoing collaborative efforts underscore the deepening partnership between Ukraine and France, contributing to Ukraine’s economic growth and its integration into European markets.
