On May 18, a summit of the international transport forum began in Paris. It will last until Friday, May 20. But for Ukraine, there are already positive consequences of an international assembly even despite the war. A memorandum of cooperation was signed within the framework of the summit.
The Agreement on International Cooperation deals with the development of the transport infrastructure and vehicle fleet of Ukraine. Minister of the infrastructure of Ukraine Oleksandr Kubrakov and US transport minister Peter Buttigieg left their signatures on the document.
The document contains the conditions for the modernization of roads and the security of the airspace. According to the agreement, automatic weighing stations for cars will be installed on the roads to preserve the surface. Ukraine also hopes to attract foreign investments from the US private sector, to develop the popularity of environmentally friendly transport and digital technologies on the roads. Railway services will also be reformed.
"We understand that to work on the restoration of Ukraine already now. Among the key results of the implementation of the memorandum we expect the renewal of the entire fleet of locomotives and wagons by 2030, the creation of a system of fast rail communication between major cities, and the improvement of the railway infrastructure, especially in large cities," said Oleksandr Kubrakov.
