Energoatom president Petro Kotin announced the receipt of 3 generators from the American government. The Ukrainian representative thanked them for strengthening the country's nuclear safety and noted that all generators will be at Ukrainian nuclear power plants in August. The generators run on diesel fuel and generate a capacity of 2.2 MW. Such assistance will become insurance for nuclear stations in case of new strikes by the Russian Federation on the power system of Ukraine. Since March 2022, the station in the Zaporizhzhya region has been occupied by the occupiers and is still under their control. Therefore, three generators will be distributed among three other electrical stations in the country.
"This equipment will be essential for our nuclear power plants in the event of a power outage," Kotin said.
In addition, after the de-occupation of Zaporizhzhya NPP, these generators are planned to be used to restore the station's total capacity and provide extra power.
In total, there are 4 nuclear fuel stations in Ukraine, and 15 power units are located in them. This Ukrainian system gives the power of 13.835 GW.
