This was stated by President Volodymyr Zelensky during an interview with Ukrainian TV channels within the framework of the All-Ukrainian Forum "Ukraine 30. Country Security" in Kyiv.
The head of State noted that today threats to information security and cyber threats can be no less dangerous for the State than enemy weapons. To counter these threats, a cybersecurity center has been set up and will be presented soon.
The President said that the cybercenter will cooperate with various intelligence agencies, both Ukrainian and partner countries. It will involve a large number of analysts — Ukrainian, European and American.
In addition, according to Volodymyr Zelensky, the issue of training specialists who will deal with cybersecurity: the country, people and the entire digital space are being considered.
"We will open a new powerful university. Its presentation is also almost ready. A university that will have professions related to state security and human security. Cybersecurity is one of the most important faculties of this university", — the President said.
According to the Head of State, the best children will be selected for it, who will be provided with a favorable space for study and high scholarships will be provided.
"Modern laboratories, cyber and biochemical centers will be built. They will immediately receive knowledge, theory and practice. There will also be a selection of powerful teachers, especially Ukrainians, but also specialists from abroad will be involved. Everyone will receive a very high salary, regardless of which country they come from. This university will train professional people whose direction is the security of our country, who after this university will have to work for the state", — Volodymyr Zelensky stressed.
Today's realities show that cyber threats are evolving at an accelerated pace, cybercrime is becoming more perfect, better organized and transnational. This is because the Internet, digital services, and information and communication technologies (ICTs) have become an integral part of the world’s economy, from e-document management, online shopping and online banking to the Internet of Things and smart enterprise management systems. As dependence on the use of ICTs in business and entrepreneurship increases, so do cyber risks and cyber threats, which require an early response to prevent or address them and awareness of the risk factors of all stakeholders. The cybersecurity system must work in the public interest for both service providers and service users. It is the state as the guarantor of the rights and freedoms of citizens that must take responsibility for ensuring access to a stable secure digital space that can be used by all citizens, as ensuring an appropriate level of cybersecurity is a necessary condition for the development of the information society.
