On 14 September, it was reported that 11 children had been transported from the occupied part of the Kherson region. All children of different ages, the youngest child of 3 years. The left-bank part of the Kherson region occupied since April 2022. This means that the Russian invaders held in difficult psychological and physical conditions for a child who was not yet 2 years old. In addition, 2 children were stolen from an orphanage, and the other 9 have parents.
"This event was preceded by the hard work of Save Ukraine, the office of the Ukrainian parliament commissioner for human rights, the Ministry of reintegration, the charity organisation Ukrainian network for the rights of the child, the guardianship and tutelage authorities, child affairs services," the regional military administration reported.
The children are to be reunited with their families and rehabilitated. Since 2023, Ukraine returned 112 children from the occupied bank of the Kherson region. Work is constantly ongoing. In September, 31 children were returned to Ukraine from the territory of the Russian Federation or occupied cities.
