On April 21, Portuguese defence minister Helena Carreiras announced the transfer to Ukraine "5 armoгred rescue and medical support vehicles to Ukraine – 3 of the M113 type and 2 of the M577 type."
In addition to military assistance, Portugal is making significant efforts to provide humanitarian and social assistance to Ukrainians. For example, the city has recognized Bucha as a sister-city to speed up the transfer of aid. Also, as of September 2022, Portugal opened its heart to about 50.000 Ukrainians who fled the war.
