Average Ukrainian Salary Grows by 15%

In Ukraine, by the end of December, the average salary of Ukrainians will significantly increase

According to experts, growth can be up to 15%. This applies to both public and private employees.

How and why do salaries change?

The average salary in December each year differs significantly from the salary for any other month. Take 2020, for example. The salary at the beginning of the year, in January, then amounted to $390 in November — $436 but in December — as much as $517

In fact, rates in December and January do not change massively. It's all about the seasonality of payments. In December, there are always the highest indicators of the average salary. In Ukraine, there is a practice of paying bonuses or the so-called 13th salary before the New Year holidays.

Experts predict that in December the indicators of average wages will be significantly higher than in October-November.

In general, ordinary employees of the budgetary and private spheres receive various salary increases in December. "Employers give bonuses at the end of the year because people expect that they will receive more before the holidays," says Pavel Kukhta, head of political affairs at the Kyiv School of economics.
