Aviation modernization accelerates as procedures are simplified

Emergency upgrades can be completed within one month

The Cabinet of Ministers approved a resolution that significantly speeds up emergency upgrades of military aviation equipment. The decision removes lengthy bureaucracy and introduces a fast‑track approach to modernization.

According to Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov, aircraft and helicopters can now be adapted more quickly to modern war needs, strengthening air defense capabilities.

Previously, even minor modifications could take months or years. Under the new rules, the full modernization cycle should take up to one month.

Upgrades can be performed at bases by military units, R&D institutions of the Armed Forces and private Ukrainian companies. Allowed installations include additional weapons, navigation and communications systems, thermal imaging, and target detection systems.

The changes apply to Ukrainian aircraft. Partner‑supplied aviation (such as F‑16) remains under separate international regulations.
