It is not in vain that the common phrase "Bakhmut-fortress" appeared in Ukraine. "As for Bakhmut, the troops have no order to hold the position until death. There was no such order at all. This war is not to stay and die, but we are in our country and will defend it as long as we can," Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
"Unfortunately, the fortress is alive. Alive — I mean from living people. Such an alive wall. This is how expensive this war. But people are strong. They defend themselves, stand firm and understand that they are a fortress for Ukraine to prepare for the de-occupation of all territories. And they stand strong, fulfil their tasks, and destroy — this is the most important thing today, to the maximum of the enemy's strength. That's why we all support the Bakhmut-fortress, support the soldiers," the president.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted that to give the city to the occupiers would mean letting them closer to the big cities, to make their goals a reality, to occupy the Donetsk and Luhansk regions, closer. But Zelenskyy is not ready for Bakhmut to give all lives of the army of Ukraine. Therefore, the armed forces of defence forces are in the city for as long as it is reasonable. With enough weapons, Ukraine can attack again and will likely do so at critical points.
