This visit underscores the continued support of the United States for Ukraine amid its ongoing conflict with Russia.
US Ambassador to Ukraine, Bridget Brink, announced the arrival and detailed the delegation's agenda. The delegation includes representatives Betty McCollum, Ronnie Jackson, Tony Gonzalez, and John Joyce. They are scheduled to discuss how US aid is bolstering Ukraine's efforts against the Russian invasion.
"Welcome to Kyiv the Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee Mike Turner and a bipartisan delegation of Betty McCollum, Ronnie Jackson, Tony Gonzalez and John Joyce, who will hold a discussion on how US aid supports Ukraine in its resistance to the brutal invasion Russia," Brink stated.
Recent US Aid Package to Ukraine
Earlier this month, Washington approved a $225 million aid package for Kyiv. The Pentagon later provided specifics on the aid, which includes HAWK air defense missiles, Stinger anti-aircraft missiles, HIMARS ammunition, and 155 mm howitzers. This aid package aims to strengthen Ukraine's defensive capabilities and sustain its military efforts against Russian forces.
Significance of the Visit
The visit by the US congressional delegation highlights the bipartisan support within the US government for Ukraine's sovereignty and defense. It also reinforces the commitment of the United States to provide necessary military and humanitarian assistance to Ukraine in its time of need.
