Ukrainian defense-tech company BlueBird Tech has announced work on serial production of domestically developed guided aerial bombs. The project will involve a specialized design bureau and Ukrainian engineers with experience in missile-related development.
The company says the decision is driven by the realities of the current war, where guided aerial bombs have become one of the major threats used by Russia. BlueBird Tech argues that Ukraine needs its own effective response and a production base capable of adapting quickly.
From drones to heavier systems
Technical details, planned production volumes and exact launch timelines have not been disclosed. That is typical for projects in the defense sector, where secrecy is part of operational security. Still, the announcement shows how Ukrainian defense manufacturing is moving from small unmanned systems toward more complex aviation weapons.
BlueBird Tech was founded in 2023 and describes itself as a Ukrainian defense technology company. Its work covers FPV drones, electronic warfare systems, drone detectors, communications equipment and ground robotic platforms.
The company says a key part of its model is constant feedback from Ukrainian military units. Such feedback allows engineers to refine products according to real battlefield needs rather than laboratory assumptions. If the guided bomb project reaches serial production, it would add another layer to Ukraine’s rapidly expanding defense-industrial ecosystem.
