A Boy Who Survived the Russian Strike on Vinnytsia

8-year-old Roman returned from Germany after treatment for 43% burns due to a Russian missile strike against the centre of Vinnytsia

On July 14, 2022, the Russian army struck the centre of Vinnytsia. As a result of this terrorist attack, 28 people died, more than half of whom died on the spot. The youngest killed was 3-year-old Lisa, who was on her way to a preschool with her mother. Another 200 people were injured.

Among the victims is a 7-year-old boy, Roman Oleksiv. Roman's mother died from the explosion of the same rocket, and 43% of the boy's body was burned. To save the boy's life, doctors sent him to Germany for treatment.

On September 19, almost a year after the tragedy, Roman returned home. He faces a long and painful road of rehabilitation and months of wearing special compression clothing.
