Canada Delivers 50 Armored Vehicles to Ukraine and Announces New $835M Aid Package

Ottawa strengthens its military support with ACSVs, drones, medical supplies, and major funding for Ukraine’s NATO-priority needs

First Armored Vehicles Already on the Way

Canadian Defence Minister David McGuinty announced that the first eight Armored Combat Support Vehicles (ACSVs) have been delivered to Poland and are now en route to Ukraine.

The vehicles are part of a larger commitment to supply 50 ACSVs, all of which are expected to be delivered by the end of this year. These armored vehicles will play a critical role in strengthening the mobility and protection of Ukrainian forces on the front lines.

$835 Million for Ukraine’s Defense

Alongside the armored vehicles, Canada has unveiled a new military assistance package worth $835 million, which includes:

  • $680 million – for purchasing military equipment from Ukraine’s NATO priority list, supplied by the United States.

  • $220 million – for drones, electronic warfare systems, joint ventures, and other critical defense technologies.

  • Medical equipment, weapons, and ammunition to meet urgent battlefield needs.

Minister McGuinty emphasized that the package is designed to strengthen Ukraine’s ability to defend its sovereignty and democracy.

“Ukrainians are fighting bravely on the front lines against Russia’s illegal and unprovoked war. This comprehensive military assistance package will allow Ukraine to continue its fight for freedom, territorial integrity and democracy,” he said.

Canada’s Role in Ukraine’s Defense

Canada has consistently reaffirmed its position as one of Ukraine’s reliable allies, contributing both direct equipment deliveries and financial support for international defense initiatives.

With this latest aid package, Canada not only fulfills its armored vehicle pledge but also expands support into advanced defense technologies, showing long-term commitment to Ukraine’s fight against Russian aggression.
