Canada Provides $16.5 Mln to Demine Ukraine

The embassy of Canada in Ukraine announced the provision of equipment to liberate Ukrainian territories from mines and bombs

Ottawa previously reported on the decision to help Ukrainian agriculture. Canada has allocated $16.5 million from the budget, which went to purchase demining equipment. According to the Canadian Embassy in Ukraine, the first batch of special vehicles has already arrived in Ukraine. They were handed over to the state emergency service of Ukraine. Assistance from the North American country will be aimed at clearing Ukrainian agricultural lands from the consequences of Russian attacks. The return of food security in Ukraine will help not only to increase the amount of harvest but also to accelerate the country's liberation from explosive devices.

Now Ukraine can not use almost 500.000 ha. These agricultural areas are located in Mykolaiv, Kherson, and Kharkiv regions. They suffered from Russian attacks and are still dangerous to farmers. Recall that several farmers have already exploded on Russian mines during the work. There are also fields that Ukraine cannot use because Russia has taken control of them.

Note that in March, the spokesman of the state emergency service of Ukraine, Oleksandr Khorunzhyi, said that demining all Ukraine territories will take at least 10 years.
