The package includes 80,840 CRV-7 rocket engines and 1,300 warheads, according to a statement from the Canadian government.
Canadian Defense Minister Bill Blair announced the new aid package during the Contact Group on Defense of Ukraine meeting in the Rammstein format. The supplies are already being prepared for shipment and will arrive in Poland within the coming months for onward delivery to Ukraine.
The CRV-7 rocket engines, once used by the Canadian Air Force on CF-18 fighter jets, had been retired but will now bolster Ukraine’s defense capabilities. The aid package also includes 970 C6 machine guns, 10,500 9mm pistols, and decommissioned chassis from 29 M113 and 64 Coyote LAV armored personnel carriers, which will be repurposed or used for spare parts in Ukraine.
Additionally, Canada plans to deliver the NASAMS medium-range air defense system to Ukraine at the beginning of 2025. The delay in NASAMS delivery, initially promised earlier, was attributed to funding issues from the United States. However, Canada has confirmed the system will be transferred next year.
