Since February 24, China has refrained from criticizing Putin-led Russia. However, on the first day of the G20 summit, Xi Jinping met with France’s leader, who openly supports Ukraine. According to the results of the summit, it became known that Jinping is opposed to the Russian-Ukrainian war. It calls for an early cessation of hostilities and the beginning of negotiations.
Macron said that, as a result of bilateral talks, the parties agreed to support Ukraine and establish humanitarian ways to address military realities. The president called on Russia to respect the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine. They believe that the consequences of this conflict transcend European borders. Chinese sources confirmed the outcome of their president’s meeting with Macron.
"Jinping stressed that China’s position on the crisis in Ukraine is clear and consistent, advocating a ceasefire, a cessation of war, and peaceful negotiations," the Chinese state broadcaster CCTV reports.
Let us recall that China and Russia don't abandon their partnership, But in September, Xi Jinping expressed to Putin his concern over the protracted war.
