According to the Constitution of Ukraine, every person born in the family of a citizen of Ukraine is automatically a citizen of Ukraine. For those who did not receive citizenship at birth, but aspire to it, Ukraine offers the following options:
- Marriage with a citizen of Ukraine;
- Investments in business in Ukraine from $20 million or more as a basis for obtaining citizenship;
- The granting of citizenship for special services to the state can be considered almost an exception. For example, Saakashvili and Nevzorov.
From now on, those who have fulfilled the conditions mentioned above will also have to pass an exam on the knowledge of the Ukrainian language, history and the constitution of Ukraine.
On May 23 of last year, a petition about passing the exam was registered on the governmental portal of Ukraine, and more than 25.000 Ukrainians supported it. President Zelenskyy reviewed the petition and forwarded it to the cabinet of ministers for consideration.
On July 28, 2023, the draft law was ready, and from today everyone who wants to become a Ukrainian can start our language and history.
