The state design bureau of Yuzhnoye is considering the potential of creating an aviation space complex that will bring all Ukrainian space investing-in-ukraine/business-opportunities/automotive/" rel="dofollow">vehicles into space. The complex is planned to be based on the soviet IL-76 aircraft. It is written with reference to the statement of the design bureau Yuzhnoye.
The new design will be used for an air-launch vehicle on hybrid and liquid engines. The Ukrainian UAirlaunch complex has the potential to deliver all Ukrainian spacecraft into space.
It is noted that the Ukrainian An-124-100 aircraft was not considered because of its high price. The acquisition of this aircraft, its upgrade, and modification to launch the missile will cost about $100 million. This amount is comparable to the cost of the entire UAirlaunch project.
