Record procurement of mines and bombs for drones in Q1

Defense agency scales supply to meet frontline demand

Defense procurement in the first quarter of 2026 shifted to industrial scale. The Ministry of Defense reported that deliveries of mines and drone munitions reached more than half of the total volume supplied in all of 2025.

The supply focus is on FPV drones, reconnaissance UAVs, drop munitions and engineering mines. The goal is to build a steady flow of consumables that match the pace of battlefield demand.

Officials say the shift from spot purchases to industrial contracts allows faster replenishment and better predictability for units at the front. The procurement model is designed to remove delays between operational requests and contract execution.

Priorities include scaling domestic production and ensuring rapid logistics to the front line. The ministry expects volumes to increase several times by the end of the year compared to last year.
