One of the fixed goals of the economic strategy of Ukraine until 2030 is to completely cover the domestic demand for gas through its own production. This was recalled by the prime minister of Ukraine, Denys Shmyhal.
As part of the work on this goal, the state signed 11 contracts to distribute domestically produced gas and planned ₴13 billion investments in start-up infrastructure and development.
At the first stage, which will begin this year, the state and departmental institutions will start testing 57 wells.
"In several areas, such exploration has already begun and continues. In the second half of 2022, drilling of the first industrial wells will begin," prime minister of Ukraine.
A distinctive feature of Ukraine's energy policy is that a significant part of our energy needs will be provided through renewable energy sources.
In mid-spring 2022, Ukraine will start filling its own natural gas into storage facilities, and in the heating season 2022-2023, Ukrainians will be provided with about 20 billion m³ of gas.
