Ukrainians Opened 10.207 Companies in Poland

Since the beginning of the war, temporarily emigrated Ukrainians have launched 8% of all commercial activities in Poland

On February 24, Russia attacked Ukraine, and many Ukrainians left the country. As of the end of August, more than 5.000 Ukrainians lived in Poland.

According to Business Insider Polska, Ukrainians registered 10.207 companies in Poland, 9.829 of them after March 1 (the 2nd week of the war). According to the Polish economic institute, every tenth company in Poland is owned by a Ukrainian.

"Most often, they organize economic activities related to decoration, programming, hairdressing and cosmetic activities, as well as transport. This means that they fit perfectly into sectors where there is a labour shortage in Poland — construction, information technology or logistics," Katarzyna Dębkowska, head of PIE's economic forecasting group.

16% of companies are registered in the IT sector, and 7% — transport and logistics services. Remarkably, 41% of registered businesses are owned by woman. While the percentage of businesswoman among Polish citizens is 35%.
