They say that it is impossible to enter the same river twice. They are wrong. Ukraine opens the bloody river after the Russian invaders, not even for the second time. During the counteroffensive, the Ukrainian army liberated one of the major cities of the Kharkiv region, Izum. Now Ukraine has a long time to rebuild the city and heal its wounds.
Deputy of the Izum city council Maksym Strelnykov said that the city was very damaged by the actions of the Russian armed forces. According to his data, 80% of the city is destroyed.
"These are both private and multi-family residential buildings and enterprises, public institutions, public utilities, and industrial facilities. This is true. Unfortunately, the city is destroyed. The worst thing is that ahead — winter and the centralized heating system is destroyed," said the politician.
At the same time, about 10.000 people remain in the city. But this is not the worst news from the liberated city. On 10 September, it was reported that the Russians had killed at least 1.000 people.
The occupiers killed civilians during military operations on the territory of Ukraine. It is noted that a large number of people were affected as the occupiers destroyed all health facilities in the city in March. Medicines could not be brought to Izum from Ukraine. The Russian side did not send medicines, and the Russian military took everything from pharmacies.
"According to the information we have, at least 1.000 locals have died as a result of the hostilities, but more have suffered because they have not received timely medical care," Maksym Strelnykov said.
