This milestone was announced by Mykhailo Fedorov, Deputy Prime Minister for Innovation, Education, Science, and Technology Development and Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, on Telegram.
"Over 21 million Ukrainians are already using Diya! We are growing every day. In January, we surpassed the 20 million mark and continue to scale up. We consistently rank second after Google in popularity among Ukrainian applications in the App Store," Fedorov wrote.
Diya has evolved into a comprehensive state "super app," facilitating various aspects of daily life for Ukrainians:
- Marriage Services: Over 600 couples have gotten married through Diya, and more than 6,700 couples have applied for marriage using the service.
- Identity Confirmation: Over 1.3 million users have confirmed each other's identities via the app.
- Business and Housing: Users can start businesses, purchase new homes, and apply for rebuilding destroyed properties.
- Efficiency: The app helps save time and reduces reliance on physical documents and photocopies.
Fedorov reflected on the app's growth:
"Diya has become a state super app, without which it's already difficult to imagine life. On the day of Diya's launch, we monitored the number of downloads and authorizations, dreaming of our first million users. Five years have passed, and now we see 21 million on the dashboard. This is a great result that motivates us to continue moving forward and digitizing further," he said.
