+ €1.5 Bln from Electricity Export

By the end of 2022, Ukraine can earn about €1.5 bln from the export of surplus electricity to Romania, Hungary, Slovakia, and Poland

Adviser to the minister of energy Lana Zerkal said that the production of electricity in Ukraine covers not only domestic demand but also foreign. Due to the accession of Ukraine to ENTSO-E, Ukraine can export surplus produced energy to the states of the European Union. As of today, the transmission lines are ready for export to Romania, Hungary, Slovakia, and Poland. The circle of importers will be expanded by other EU countries.

"We can make billions of dollars from these sales. In particular, by the end of this year, we will be able to earn up to €1.5 billion. We managed to start the commercial power flow 2.5 years earlier than planned. At the same time, we overtook the Baltic countries, which are only in the middle of this path — they will start exporting no earlier than 2025. There were a lot of doubts about whether we could work disconnected from Russia. And we were able to go into isolation 4 hours before the start of the war," Lana Zerkal.

We remind you that Volodymyr Zelenskyy stressed the need to develop the electricity industry it's for export. This year, Ukraine planned to increase grain yields and feed more people in the world. But because of the blockade, this became temporarily impossible.
