The European Commission allocated funds for the restoration of schools in Ukraine destroyed by the war

As of December 26, the Russian war in Ukraine has destroyed more than 3.000 educational institutions. Most of them are schools. €100 million have been allocated for the restoration and reconstruction and reconstruction of institutions of junior and senior schools in Ukraine, €66 of which have been received by the budget today.

According to Katarina Maternova, deputy director general at DG neighbourhood and enlargement negotiations, €34 million are funds for repair work: replacing windows/doors etc, repairing roofs pierced by missiles, buying new equipment for the school's infrastructure, and equipping bomb shelters for children. The remaining €66 million is direct budgetary support for Ukraine.
