The process of obtaining a sick leave certificate for Ukrainians has become much simpler. The patient comes to the doctor for an examination. The doctor creates an electronic medical report on the temporary incapacity of the patient in a special register.
Patients will no longer have to carry a paper sick leave certificate to record the fact of temporary incapacity for work. And employers will see the necessary information about the electronic sick leave certificate in the personal electronic account of the insured (employer) on the web portal of electronic services of the Pension Fund of Ukraine.
“The launch of electronic sick leave certificates is an important step in the introduction of electronic documents instead of paper ones in the medical and social spheres. It is a service that will make life easier for patients, doctors and employers. Thanks to the electronic sick leave certificate, it will be possible to eradicate corruption abuses in this area and save money for the state," said Mykhailo Fedorov, vice prime minister of Ukraine and minister of digital transformation.
In 2021, electronic sick leave should become available in the e-Health system, when the electronic patient database is ready. The project was created with the support of the EGAP program, implemented by the Eastern Europe Foundation and funded by Switzerland.
