Last Tuesday, Turkey’s leader Recep Erdogan took part in the second annual conference of the Crimean Platform devoted to the illegal annexation of the peninsula. Erdogan not only acknowledged his visit that Crimea belongs to Ukraine but also said this at a briefing.
The president of Turkey recalled that since 2014 his country has condemned the seizure of the peninsula and believes that Russia harms not only territorial security and sovereignty of Ukraine but also global processes. Erdogan added that in Crimea there are related nodes — Crimean Tatars. Therefore, it is essential for him — their well-being and life in the world.
"This is a principled stance with both legal and moral grounds. International law effectively mandates that Crimea be returned to Ukraine, of which it is an integral part. It is critical for regionals as well as global security, and stability to preserve Ukraine’s territorial integrity, sovereignty, and political unity. Priorities for Turkey also include ensuring the safety and well-being of our Crimean Tatar cognates," Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
The Turkish politician said that he has high hopes for every meeting of the Crimean Platform.
