EU Agrees on New Package of Sanctions Against Russian Aggression

On platform 77th of the UN General Assembly, an agreement was reached on the 9th package of sanctions to contain imperialism

On September 21, Josep Borel said that the EU foreign ministers who took part in the UN summit had the opportunity to discuss the next package of sanctions personally. The ministers reached a political consensus on the economic measures to stop Putin's imperialism.

"I understand what you would like to know about persons, sectors and accounts. But this was not done today. Today we made a political decision. In the future, we will consider a new package of sanctions that will be painful for the Russian economy, especially in the technology field. And, of course, there will be a list of people. Today we could not decide which persons and in which sectors - we are working on it. After Putin's speech, it was important to send a powerful political message – that was the purpose of this Council of Ministers," Josep Borrel.

Journalists asked about disagreements between the ministers while adopting the following package. To which Borel replied that the final declaration was adopted unanimously.

"I am convinced that we will be able to find a unanimous decision around the next package of sanctions," the head of the eurodiplomacy Borel.

According to Josep Borel, today is underway work to organize and conduct military training for Ukrainians on the territory of the EU countries. Therefore, the final decision on the next package will be made public in October at the Council of foreign ministers of the EU member states.

Josep Borell convened an extraordinary meeting of foreign ministers after Putin broke his promises to his people, announced a partial mobilization, and made direct threats of readiness to use nuclear weapons.
