EU Allocates €40 Million to Help Ukrainians Prepare for Winter

The European Commission has announced a €40 million humanitarian funding package to help Ukrainians prepare for the upcoming winter, according to the European Commission’s official portal

Of this amount, €35 million is earmarked for humanitarian projects within Ukraine, while €5 million is designated to support Ukrainian refugees and their host communities in Moldova.

The funding focuses on essential winter preparation, including the repair of damaged buildings, providing electricity and heating, and offering shelter to those most in need. In Moldova, the assistance will target vulnerable Ukrainian refugees, ensuring access to basic services and boosting preparedness for potential new refugee flows.

With this latest contribution, the EU has allocated a total of €966 million in humanitarian aid to civilians affected by the war in Ukraine since the Russian invasion in February 2022. Out of this, €895 million has gone to programs within Ukraine, and €71 million has supported Ukrainians in Moldova.
