European Commission president plans to attend Ukraine recovery conference

Brussels says the Gdansk event should signal unity, investor interest and support for reconstruction

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen plans to attend the Ukraine Recovery Conference in Gdansk on June 25 and 26. The message from Brussels is that the event should remain a signal of support despite political tension between Kyiv and Warsaw.

European Commission spokesperson Paula Pinho said unity remains the strongest instrument in response to Russia’s war. She noted that disputes weakening unity only help Moscow and should not become an obstacle to a successful conference.

Why the visit matters

The conference is expected to bring together political leaders, investors, businesses and public institutions around reconstruction priorities. Ukraine will be represented by a delegation headed by Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko, with business representatives and officials also taking part.

For investors, the conference is not only a diplomatic event. It is a venue where reconstruction projects, regional needs and private-sector opportunities can be presented as part of Ukraine’s long-term economic recovery.

The core signal is that reconstruction remains tied to international unity and private capital, not only emergency aid.

The practical result will depend on whether political support turns into project commitments, financing channels and clear rules for investors.
