Europarliament: the Destruction of the Kakhovka HPP Is a War Crime of Russia

The European Commissioners called for Russia to be held accountable: to strengthen international sanctions and transfer frozen Russian assets in favour of Ukraine

On June 14, a meeting of the European Parliament was held, during which several issues were discussed: Ukraine, the EU's Migration Pact, green energy and digitalisation, the law on the restoration of nature, the revision of the long-term budget of the European Union and the reindustrialisation of the European space.

"MEPs denounced the destruction of Ukraine's Nova Kakhovka dam, the latest war crime committed by Russia and one that must be met with consequences. They called for the EU to continue its strong support for Ukraine, for new sanctions against Russia, and for the billions of frozen assets by Russian oligarchs to be used to reconstruct Ukraine," the official page of the European Parliament.

It is worth noting that several countries have already begun to transfer assets to Ukraine that previously belonged to Russia. Ukraine is also working to freeze Russian funds and use them to rebuild destroyed cities.
